This has nothing to do with a book, but Katie mentioned Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. I've never read that book, don't even know anything about it, but The Gaslight Anthem has a song by that same title and I really like it. Might have something to do with the book? But again, I have no idea.

I co-host the show. I also design things: http://www.dan-hauk.com

Gotta read "cowgirls" hilarious. Vonnegutish. SKIP the horrible movie, though.

Yeah, the movie was pretty bad. I just saw it for the first time a few days ago, I think. Maybe like a week ago? Anyway. The book is fantastic. Totally fucking fantastic. But pretty much everything Tom Robbins writes is fucking fantastic.

If you love Robbins, (and Vonnegut) you might also like T.C. Boyle. Start with Budding Prospects, The Road to Wellsville, (but avoid the horrible movie, too) and then try Water Music and or East is East, for a more serious, but still funny, look at history and society. His use of words is almost poetic.

Just looked up that book and immediately recognized the cover. Totally already read it. Like forever ago. I remember quite liking that book in high school. Considering the subject of the book and the fact that I didn't remember it until I looked it up gives a little bit of a hint about why I liked it. :P
